Machine vision for accurate detection and inspection in robotic factory automation

Next to designing innovative electronics, such as an automotive particle sensor and a wireless charging system, Prodrive Technologies develops robotic automation solutions (6DOF) to produce in-house. To enable 24/7, high quality, robust production, machine vision is used in various processes, such as product assembly, insert placement for injection moulding, dispensing and inbound logistics. A robotics software framework has been created to maximize re-usability between the different automation applications. This presentation will present the vision setups and algorithms, such as component detection (in 2D and 3D systems) and sealant inspection. Furthermore, some new developments are presented, for example sub-pixel accurate detection, CAD-model fitting, 3D inspection and anomaly detection.
